| I received a letter today from Mobile County. They letter said I had to pay $286 for worthless checks or they were going to put me in jail. I went into a natural panic. I have lived in MS now for 10 years after leaving Mobile in a nasty divorce. It took me all day to get a copy of these so called checks.They were from 1997. Why has it taken 10 years to contact me?I have not been in hiding? Is there a statute of limitations on this. Had I know about this outstanding issue. I would have included it in my divorce. If I refuse to pay can and will they prosecute me. |
