1990/1992 or prior "alleged" debt attempt to collect without billing for 18 yrs?

THE HISTORY OVERVIEW

(which will lead to my question)

I recently  tried to order a college transcript from a college (which is now a university) that I last attended in approx. 1983-85. (22-almost 25  yrs ago).

I was told by accts receivable that the university would not give me/send any official transcripts on my behalf because of an old debt I allegedly still owed - $275.00.

I asked them what the debt was for - a month later I have not gotten any reply as to what I allegedly owe the money for.

When I asked the school to talk with their legal dept. they said they no longer had a legal dept. I asked why. The guy said the personnel in legal had quit.

I asked the school why I never got any bills and henceforth did not even know that I had this alleged debt outstanding. ...so I had no chance to clear it up prior if it was in fact a legitmate debt..

The school then told me that they had sent this alleged debt to a collection agency whom cancelled the debt in/by 1992.

The school claims that even though the collection agency cancelled the debt in/by 1992, the school itself considers the debt open and the debt is now up for being paid.

However, I also told the school that I filed Bankruptcy (7) in end of 2005 and at the time no school representatives/agents came forward to my hearing/court date and I otherwise still knew nothing of the old alleged $275.00 debt.

I told the school during Bankruptcy filing the school would have had an opportunity to communicate with me (via my attorney)......the school has not responded to any of this. I received a Discharge in 2006.

Summary - QUESTION

Because I do not know what the alleged debt is for; because I was not billed for this debt for at least at the very minimum 15 years and most likely more than 15 yrs, if at all that I am awre of that is; because no one came to my hearing/court date representing an interest for the school; because no one talked to my attorney regarding this matter; because I filed for Bankruptcy and finally because I was granted a full Discharge for Chapter 7 in 2006.....

Is there any way that I would remotely owe for an alleged debt such as was described directly above.... if in fact it was proven to be a legitmate open debt?

How can I expedite getting my official transcripts released asap?

I am a 51 year old woman trying to go back to college and finish to get my BA degree (finally).

I have a very small window within which to submit all of the required documents at the school I am planning on attending. Otherwise I will have to wait another year

(definitely not preferrred).

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Lorraine Stone
