bodily injury

My son was charged with battery. He's 11 years old. We don't know if they are still going to press charges. If they do, should we

have an attorney represent him? What could happen if they do charge him?

Re: bodily injury

Any criminal charge must be taken seriously, especially a juvenile conviction which will haunt your son on every job application, college admission application, etc. If you can prevent this problem from permanently marking your son's record you must take all necessary actions.  Hiring a criminal lawyer that has juvenile criminal law experience is a must.  This is not the time to pinch pennies because your son's future is at risk.

Hopefully, the state will not decide to press charges.  You should take a proactive role in lobbying the prosecuting attorney's office to prevent charges if possible.

If they do charge your son, the outcome will depend on your son's history, the details of the battery, the severity of the injury and the strength of your legal arguments.  We advise you to consult a lawyer immediately to see if that lawyer can help prevent charges from being filed.  Preventing the filing of charges is your first priority.   If you would like help in locating a Juvenile Criminal Lawyer in Indiana just let us know.
