I hope this is the right area. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram truck with a cummins turbo diesel engine. In Jan 2006 I took my truck to the dealer and found out that my injector pump had failed and the it needed to be replaced along with the lift pump or fuel pump. I had 100,300 miles and the dealer said it was out of warranty. I had to talk with Chrysler only to have to pay $500.00 dollars towards the $3000.00 bill so I would be under warranty for 12 mos or 12,000 miles. In Feb of this year I again had to take my truck back for the same reason after 13 mos and 18,000 miles the dealer said it would cost $4000.00 this time to repair. I again talked with Chrysler only to be told that they would not cover any portion of the repair. I've been doing a little research and found that my warranty states this if I am interpiting it correctly.
WHAT'S COVERED
2.6 Cummins Diesel Engine Limited
Warranty
A. When It Begins
If your truck is equipped with a Cummins Diesel
Engine, the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited
Warranty begins at the end of the 3/36 Basic
Limited Warranty period, and covers the cost of
repairing those parts of your truck engine listed
that are defective in materials, workmanship, or
factory preparation.
B. Parts Covered for 5 Years or 100,000 Miles
Diesel equipped heavy duty trucks, as described in
2.5 (A), have a separate diesel engine Emission
Warranty which covers the following items for 5
years or 100,000 miles. These limits are counted from
the time when your Basic Limited Warranty begins
under 2.1 (D). The covered parts are:
• exhaust manifold
• fuel injection system
• injector
• intake manifold, and
• turbocharger.
NOTE: The Performance Warranty 2.4 does not
apply to heavy duty cycle engine equipped trucks.
That the Cummings limited warranty begins at the end of my 36 mos 36,000 mile warranty and that I have warranty coverage for 8 years and 136,000 miles. I need advise as to if I am interpiting this correctly by law???
