I've worked in a body shop and related businesses for the last thirteen years, and most recently, about six months ago I was hospitalized with severe asthma complications. Both my regular doctor and a pulmonary specialist told me that I had better find a different career path before I do more damage to my lungs. They had me do a pulmonary function test at the hospital, and results showed that I had a minor obstruction that was limiting my lung function. I've been off work since Feruary of '07 and my condition has improved quite a bit since I've had no exposure to the host of toxic chemicals in the body shop environment. I have recently enrolled at Ferris State University for their Respiratory Therapy program, and I start in Late August. I used to make about $ 35,000.00 per year at my old job, and all of my expenses are based on that amount. My unemployment is running out and a part-time job at minimum wage will not even come close meeting my monetary needs, not to mention my girlfriend and I are trying to support three children, two vehicle payments and a mortgage. I'm a displaced worker, and I would really like and opinion if I have a case or not. thank you.
