executor of the estate

My husband and I are trying to renew the tag on one of his cars but when his grandmother co-signed for it the finance company sent the title in her name. She has since died and we have lost the title. The tax office told us that we would have to get a copy of her will or paper work naming him the executor of her estate. Unfortunately she had no will and as far as we know, there was nothing actually naming an executor. My husband and his cousin were on her bank account so they took care of everything. Would this make them the executors and if so how would we proove this?

Re: executor of the estate

While the porcess is not impossible it is very confusing for a lay person so we advise you spend a few dollars and hire a Mississppi Wills and Probate Lawyer.  If you decide to go it alone you will have to contact the Probate Court serving your county and determine the process for opening her estate, appointing a personal representative and distributing this vehicle through the Mississippi Probate Court.
